There’s something fishy…

I visited the fish market a while back ago, and although I felt sorry for all the fishes in the plastics, and how careless they were treated, I couldn’t help but admired them in their little bubbles and aquariums. the colors, shapes, and how there were so many of them cramped together in such a small space amazed me. I stopped every three steps to take pictures with my iPad (which was awkward because of its size), but really enjoyed my time there.

Why You Should Have A Dog

Mi perro, Lulu

1. Imagine a long, tiring day at work. The traffic that you have to get through, works that you take home, bad rapport from your boss. And on the front door, you have this thing that when it sees you, it seems for them, there is nothing else more important in this life, than you. Then she jumps at you and kisses your face. Any bad day can be forgotten after.

2. Dogs are men’s best friend. That is so true. Take yours anywhere, guarantee that there will be somebody who stops to pet your dog. ( Lulu has been petted, taken photo with and hugged). This is actually a good way for social ice-breaker. I get to know lots of new people, thanks to Lulu.

3. The glue that sticks your family together. There’s nothing best than to take care of something together. When I’m away, my mom often texts me, gives me report about Lulu’s daily activities (which I find hilarious, because she wasn’t really fond of pets the first day Lulu came). Or when she’s sick, my dad texts me to tell me to get home soon. I find this very heart-warming.

4. Learn about responsibility. Once you get a pet, any kind of, you must remember that their life depend on you. See point one, that’s true, for them you are their world. You are responsible to make them happy (take them for a morning walk), feel rewarded (give them biscuits), care for them (don’t forget the monthly medicine, bath them regularly), comfort them (make sure their cages are warm enough, but not too damp).

5. Have you seen Red Dog? Hachiko? Marley and Me? Bolt? Rin Tin Tin? Old Yeller? I bet you never see a movie like those with cats in it, or fishes, or snakes. (well, Babe has pig in it, but talking pig doesn’t count), my point is there is not many animal that can touch you in the heart. (Maybe dolphins do, but we’re not mermaid aren’t we?) We, human being, are blessed with dogs in our lifetime. πŸ™‚

Last Wednesday night I attended my good friend Endira and Kenny Art Exhibition atΒ Edwin Gallery, Kemang, Jakarta. They are good friends too each other and both used watercolors.

The artworks are amazing, even me, an amateur in this artsy thing, easily love these pieces. (but loving something good shouldn’t be hard, right?).

bird day afternoon

last week, I accompany my friend to the Sukahaji Bird Market, though my dad spent million times there, I never set foo in this place. So, I decided why not, maybe I could get a good shot of all the birds and chickens there. And not only a good shots, I had a great time too (not as horrible as I imagine a bird market would be), it’s crowded usually on Sunday, but on weekdays it’s relatively calm.

I finally understand why my dad love spent a whole day just sitting and talking with his peers about, well, bird. You can feel the passion of each man here, how they adore some little creature so much they want to spend a fortune on it. We visited kiosk after kiosk, and have a long chat with the owners about pigeons, starlings, magpies, cages, and more more birds, one guy even persist we visited his house to check on a starling that he acclaimed, ‘I only see this kind once in every 20 years’, the starling can says words, ‘papa mau kemana?’ (papa, where do you want to go?) and ‘mama mau kemana?’. The bird really entertain us. LOL.

anyway, my friend bought me a blue black bird, the feathers color is deep black (like a suede) and metallic blue. I was awed when I first saw it. The guy who sell it says the bird name, something like ‘gogonello’ which I can’t find it in google. I guess it’s just a local name they have for the bird. And after an hour surfing the net, I managed to get the official name for the bird. It’s called Asian Fairy Bluebird (Irena puella) and it can be found in Himalayan, Sri Lanka and Indonesia.

Oz, my Asian Fairy Bluebird

I named the Asian Fairy Oz, from The Wizard of Oz and also short from Ocean (because its magnificent electric blue feathers).

So, to sum it up, it’s a great day at the bird market! I’d like to go there again in the rush hour! πŸ˜€
