Try To Remember November 4, 2010

the song originally by The Four Brothers, but the Greek singer, Nana Mouskouri sang it beautifully,  it’s the perfect match for this pictures. The song bring us to the beaches in winter, to a warm house where it’s snowing outside, to a black and white movies and sephia photos. We’re missing something and what we’re missing was good thing, good moments.

I wanna have those memories back, but at the same time, it’s better to keep it the way I remember it used to be. It’s beautiful that way. Years went by, trees grows, ocean stay silence, and the door are closed now. People forget, but then when we try to remember,we can’t help but feel the comfort of past.

bandung, jakarta, semarang, bali. fragments of memories.

Spent my Saturday afternoon and night with them. It was such a lovely and fun night, nothing can goes wrong when you had a chocolate melt , teh tarik and something to laugh about.

Yori said the highest level of comedy is when you are able to laugh at yourself. :)

Sally said we should be thankful because we keep our principles. And that is something we should be proud of.

Yori, Sally,Nuri, Pw, Ambon, Tisa and Endira thank you for a nice saturday. :)

my bestfriend is married. I was so overwhelmed, I feel this is unreal and so real at the same time.

She was the one who sticks. I don’t have much to say except that I’m the lucky girl who have a truly great best friend. She just gets me. After the wedding party, our friends gathered together to have an after party for the bride and groom. But before the wedding, me and two other girls drinks for her bachelorette mini-party. :) cheers!

Sunshine and Bougenville

In the heat of summer sunshine
I miss you like nobody else
In the heat of summer sunshine
I kiss you, and nobody needs to know

Just sweet beginnings and bitter endings
In coffee city, we borrowed heaven
Don’t give it back, I’ve never felt so wanted
Are you taking me home?

bird day afternoon April 3, 2010

last week, I accompany my friend to the Sukahaji Bird Market, though my dad spent million times there, I never set foo in this place. So, I decided why not, maybe I could get a good shot of all the birds and chickens there. And not only a good shots, I had a great time too (not as horrible as I imagine a bird market would be), it’s crowded usually on Sunday, but on weekdays it’s relatively calm.

I finally understand why my dad love spent a whole day just sitting and talking with his peers about, well, bird. You can feel the passion of each man here, how they adore some little creature so much they want to spend a fortune on it. We visited kiosk after kiosk, and have a long chat with the owners about pigeons, starlings, magpies, cages, and more more birds, one guy even persist we visited his house to check on a starling that he acclaimed, ‘I only see this kind once in every 20 years’, the starling can says words, ‘papa mau kemana?’ (papa, where do you want to go?) and ‘mama mau kemana?’. The bird really entertain us. LOL.

anyway, my friend bought me a blue black bird, the feathers color is deep black (like a suede) and metallic blue. I was awed when I first saw it. The guy who sell it says the bird name, something like ‘gogonello’ which I can’t find it in google. I guess it’s just a local name they have for the bird. And after an hour surfing the net, I managed to get the official name for the bird. It’s called Asian Fairy Bluebird (Irena puella) and it can be found in Himalayan, Sri Lanka and Indonesia.

Oz, my Asian Fairy Bluebird

I named the Asian Fairy Oz, from The Wizard of Oz and also short from Ocean (because its magnificent electric blue feathers).

So, to sum it up, it’s a great day at the bird market! I’d like to go there again in the rush hour! :D

hot air balloon festival March 18, 2010

Indonesia 1st hot air balloon festival will be held in Sentul City, Bogor, 26-28 March 2010.  20 experienced pilots from Belgium, France, Dutch, Japan, Malaysia and Thailand will be participating in this event. The balloons will be flown twice a day, 9-10 am and 9-10 pm. ( I really want to try at both operating hours). They charged 50.000 rupiahs (around 5 usd) per person, I think it’s affordable for most family.

Can’t wait to be in that basket, up in the air. :)

On my own
Pretending he’s beside me
All alone, I walk with him till morning
Without him
I feel his arms around me
And when I lose my way I close my eyes
And he has found me

In the rain the pavement shines like silver
All the lights are misty in the river
In the darkness, the trees are full of starlight
And all I see is him and me for ever and forever

And I know it’s only in my mind
That I’m talking to myself and not to him
And although I know that he is blind
Still I say, there’s a way for us

I love him
But when the night is over
He is gone, the river’s just a river
Without him the world around me changes
The trees are bare and everywhere
The streets are full of strangers

I love him
But every day I’m learning
All my life I’ve only been pretending
Without me his world will go on turning

the world that full of happiness

That I have never known

when the night is over, he is gone, the river is just a river

he is gone, the river is just a river

do your prayer five times a day

and yet, we sleep past six.

don’t need to brag if you help someone in need

and yet, we feel good if our good deeds are known

don’t do anything in a rush, for the devil are lying with an uncertain hearts

and yet, we running for strange, unfamiliar places for the sakes of its thrills

do not touch, nor see through her eyes, if she’s not yours to touch

and yet, we kiss and make love

and when we’re lost, we ask for a sign.

and when we can not see it, we think we’re forgotten.

and sometimes we become a really selfish, ignorant, self-centered human being.

oh, yes. even though we give our blood for donor,

building a non-profit foundation,

or feeding a hundred hungry mouth.

oh my friend, my loved one,

chant this over and over

in your sleep, in your steps, under the hot blazing sky, in drinks you sip,

God is Great.

God is Great.

God is Great.

beautiful people May 15, 2009

As I received my latest Vogue Magazine, I can help but let out a little gasp. It’s the supermodels issues!!!! the cover girls are Liya Kebede, Natalia Vodionova, Jourdan Dunn, Caroline Trentini, Anna Jagodsinzka, Isabella Fontana, Lara Stone, Raquel Zimmerman. The issue filled with articles like ‘supermodel and the boyfriends’, ‘model off duty’, interview with top supermodels like Naomi Campbell and Karen Elson. Also, Natalia Vodianova roleplay photoshoot as supermodels like Twiggy, Veruscha, Penolope Tree and Lauren Hutton.

Also, an interview with the legendary photographer, Steven Meisel, by Jonathan Van Meter. It just came to my acknowledgement that he’s the ‘famous model maker’, he ‘found’ them, this included Naomi Campbell, Linda Evangelista, Christy Turlington, Amber Valetta, Natalia Vodionova, Jessica Stam, Karen Elson, Agyness Deyn, Liya Kebede, Coco Rocha and many more. To put it right, he’s the one who made them supermodels. And he shot beautifully too!!

I know some say that this issue of Vogue kind of shallow (who cares about the models??), but when I read it through, I think what they trying to say is, that the condition change. there were years when models is the designer’s muse. they were the inspiration, as Lauren Hutton said over brunch with other younger models, years ago modelling is considering as an art, but now it’s all about the money, plus it’s boring to see tv star and celebrity in the cover. (duh, blake lively?). But I think, not all are bad, I like March 2009 issue, with Michelle Obama on the cover, it’s inspiring to see her and all the woman featured on the articles (the power issue).

anyway, shallow or not, fashion is meant to be beautiful and these beautiful people (I tried not to sound too envious), put the last piece of puzzle in the designer imagination.

I always enjoy Vogue, especially the photoshoot and the classy articles.
